16th Street offered me a place where I could be unleashed, where I could be vulnerable and hone my craft. With access to experts across a range of disciplines including noted directors Harry Haynes and Ian Sinclair, I was able to build not only strong professional relationships but also a springboard into the industry. I thought I knew how to act. I was wrong. 16th Street broke me down and built me up with technique, confidence and a clear approach to the profession and its ever-changing nature.
Not only did I have multiple opportunities to perform and showcase my talent and progress, but I was able to find my essence and unlock my casting. Playing Tony in West Side Story alongside Romeo in Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet. I could take these incredibly rich and generous scripts and together with working industry professionals I could make something that affected myself and an audience.
Equipped with top notch training and connected with a range of directors, theatre makers and fellow actors I feel confident and excited to forge my way into the professional Australian theatre scene telling stories that make a difference and challenge me at every turn.

To work with a cohesive and familiar ensemble, production team, director and production company was the ultimate opportunity. With the support and personal direction I could simply be myself under the circumstances.

This production was a first taste of not only the process of the industry but also the standard. Working with Harry Haynes created an environment where we were encouraged to explore, create and fail.

With everyone aligned on a clear creative goal, as a cast we were able to interweave our prep and rehearsal. Through personal research working in tandem with new choices and experimentation I was constantly building, discovering and doing things differently.

Present Laughter - Garry
Romeo and Juliet - Romeo

My experience on my first film set was a positive introduction to performance behind a camera, with a professional team and visionary director and writer Ethan Phoenix made my time on set rewarding and educational. The film itself challenged my facial nuances and using the camera to convey emotion and thought rather than using the full extent of my body or cast in a stage setting.

Along with my co-star Deniz Dogan, we delivered an authentic and effective performance with the characters we were given. As we were playing ourselves it provided an interesting meta medium to perform in, using different behaviours and speech to step out of my acting and personal idiosyncrasies. Our acting vision and directing allowed us to play with our characters and further extended our abilities on and of stage.

Our location Manly with its sea breeze and vibrant nightlife allowed my character to mature in a different setting rather than the normal influences of my other characters, in summation this introduction into the film world allowed me to see the work of the crew and the small changes that occur on a set to create an amazing piece of cinema.

The Fourth Wall

Being a part of this film directed and written by a group of talented UNSW students for their first year film project, allowed me, as an actor to further grow my range and learn new skills behind the camera. The insightful direction of Hayden Ta and Aiden Tamen allowed me and my co star Deniz Dogan to excel behind the camera and produce a quality peace of work.

It was so refreshing to have such an important role in the film not just acting but also script and character development. We were free to interpret our own characters and use all of our skills to truly bring the words on the page to life without any inspiration or prior experience with similar heartbroken and lost characters.

I have made new connections throughout the industry and at UNSW that open the door to new and exciting opportunities that will allow me to grow as an actor and an individual with enhanced acting an interpersonal relationship skills and talents

Looking to challenge myself and provide an Authentic presentation of ASD I found Curious Incident. The character took extensive research and trial and error, walking a fine line between meeting HSC criteria whilst remaining respectful and professional.

Our group project started as a simple manipulation story with characters that were just us. As we progressed we gave our witty and rhyming script life alongside our characters, using our combined talents of performance, writing and dance we constructed a intelligent and well structured piece.
